90 St. Paul Students Visit MTC, Tour Temple Grounds

As part of an intercultural literacy learning on World Religions and Belief Systems, Dr. Genevieve Balance-Kupang, institutional researcher and over-all coordinator of the Special Interest Groups of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (WCCI), an NGO of the United Nations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC),, brought 90 St. Paul College Pasig (SPCP) 12^th grade students to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Philippines main office in Quezon City to learn about the Church, its programs, and The Plan of Salvation.

On 31 July 2018, eight full-time missionaries from the local Quezon City Mission taught the students about the Plan of Salvation and followed it up with a Q&A session.  Questions ranged from, “What is a typical day like in the life of a missionary?” and “What makes your church different from all other Christian churches?”

During their visit, the students learned about eternal families, family history work, and the missionary program of the church. Family History volunteers taught the students about how to research the names of their ancestors at the Family History Center (FHC).  They were also given a tour of  the grounds of the Manila Philippines Temple and the Missionary Training Center (MTC).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in embracing people of all faiths and engaging in open dialogue to enhance religious tolerance.  Through education, biases are removed as members strive to live more Christlike lives. 

Aside from a visit from the all-girls Catholic school, Roman Catholic seminarians also had a tour of the Manila Missionary Training Center as well as the Manila Temple Grounds as part of their interfaith immersion early this year.
